What this card shows
The Cumulative patient growth (running total over time) card shows the total size of your patient list month by month, as a running total. Each point is every patient added up to and including that month, so the line only ever climbs.
Where New patients by month shows how many patients you took on in a single month, this card shows the total you have built up. Read the steepness rather than the direction: a steep stretch means you were adding patients quickly, and a flatter stretch means you were adding them more slowly.
Reading the card
The line runs to the current month. It is not affected by the dashboard filters.
Hover over any point to see the total number of patients as at the end of that month.
The line never falls. A month with no new patients shows as a flat step, not a dip.
The final point is the current month, which is still in progress, so it will keep rising until the month ends.
If your clinic's historical records were brought into wawa from another system, they were all created on the day of that transfer, which shows as one steep jump in the line. That step reflects when the records were loaded rather than genuine growth in that month.
Where this data comes from
Each patient joins the running total in the month their record was created in wawa. Open Patients from the sidebar and select Create Patient, then fill in the patient's details and save.
Every patient added this way is included from that month onward. No other details need to be filled in for a patient to count toward the total.
Opening this card
In wawa, open Insights from the sidebar, then go to Standard Reports and select Patients, then Patient overview. The Cumulative patient growth card is on this dashboard.
