What this card shows
The Eventual birth rate per aspiration cycle card takes every aspiration cycle (egg retrieval) started in the time window and shows the share that has since produced a live birth from any embryo that retrieval created.
It counts the whole chain that followed the retrieval, not just one attempt. A fresh transfer in the same cycle counts. So does an FET (frozen embryo transfer) done months afterwards from an embryo frozen at that retrieval. A retrieval becomes successful the moment any one of its embryos reaches a recorded live birth, and it stays successful from then on.
That framing is what makes the card useful. Most success measures answer "what did this transfer achieve". This one answers "what did this egg collection eventually achieve", which is closer to the question a patient asks before starting a stimulation cycle.
There are two lines:
Eventual birth rate (%), on the left axis: the share of that month's retrievals that have reached a live birth.
Aspiration cycles awaiting outcome (count), the dashed line on the right axis: retrievals from that month that still have eggs or embryos available and no recorded pregnancy result yet.
Reading the card
Retrievals that produced no embryos still count. If the procedure ran but nothing went on to fertilize or develop, that cycle stays in the denominator as a retrieval that did not lead to a birth. This is deliberate, and it is why the figure here sits below a per-transfer success rate. The card is measuring the outcome of starting a retrieval, not the outcome of reaching a transfer.
Recent months read low, and that is expected. A birth is roughly a year away from the retrieval that led to it, and frozen embryos can be transferred long after that. Retrievals from the last several months have simply not had time to reach an outcome yet, so their rate is near zero while the dashed awaiting-outcome line climbs. The screenshot above shows exactly this shape: the rate falls away in the latest months as the awaiting count rises. That is the cohort being too young to have resolved, not performance getting worse. A month usually needs 12 to 18 months to settle.
Read the two lines together. A low rate with a high awaiting count means "not yet known". A low rate with a low awaiting count means the cohort has largely resolved and the number is real.

One limit worth knowing: for some transferred embryos the record does not say which retrieval they came from. Those embryos cannot be traced back, so they drop out of both the numerator and the denominator here. This happens most in the workflow where eggs are frozen, thawed later, and fertilized in a different cycle. The practical consequence is that a retrieval's true rate is at least what this card shows and may be higher, so treat the number as a floor rather than an exact figure.
The card sits on the Clinical success tab and responds to the filters at the top of the dashboard:
Date: change the time window. It scopes by the start date of the retrieval cycle and defaults to the past 6 months plus the current month. Widen it to see resolved cohorts, since the default window is mostly still maturing.
Clinic: focus on one or more locations, if your organization has several.
Age at cycle start and BMI: narrow to a subset of cycles. Monthly counts get small quickly once you filter, so a single birth can move the line a long way.
Where this data comes from
This card needs both ends of the story recorded, and both are entered on the patient's Cycle page.
The lab end comes from the Culture tab: the retrieval, the eggs collected, fertilization, and each resulting embryo with its fate. This is also where an embryo stays connected to the retrieval it came from, which is what allows a later transfer to be credited back to the right cycle.
The outcome end comes from the Outcomes tab of the cycle in which the transfer happened. Use the Add Outcome menu and choose Live Birth.
For a retrieval to be credited with a birth, both halves have to be there: the embryo has to be traceable to the retrieval it came from, and the live birth has to be entered against the transfer cycle. A birth that is known clinically but never recorded in wawa reads here as a retrieval that did not succeed. Where this card looks lower than expected, unrecorded outcomes are the first thing to rule out.
