You can indicate the intended purpose, and current status of a device in order to differentiate among samples when relevant, and filter among a patient's samples based on these designations.

To add or change a designation on a cryostored sample:

  1. Navigate to the sample's record

  2. Click "Edit" in the lower left-hand corner

  3. Choose a designation from a dropdown menu (labeled "Freeze Purpose," "Use Status")

To filter based on Use Status:

  1. Navigate to the "Devices" tab of the Cryostorage record

  2. Optional: Input a patient's ID number in the search bar to isolate their samples for filtering

  3. Use the "Use Status" dropdown menu to filter based on the use statuses available on the platform

Indications

Freeze Purpose

Visual indication of the purpose of the freeze. This includes indications such as military service, social freezing, and gender reassignment. Indicating a freeze purpose does not place any restrictions on the sample within the system.

Use Status

Visual and filterable indication of the current use status of the frozen device — this differs from the status or fate of the device itself within wawa (for example thawed or biopsied). The use status includes indications for the use of the sample, for example donation, own use, training, or not suitable.
