What this card shows
The Ethnicity distribution card shows how many patients you have in each recorded ethnicity, as a bar chart with the largest group first.
Use it when you need the make-up of your patient list, either for a regulatory return or to check how well your service is reaching the population around you.
Reading the card
Bars are counts of patients, ordered from the largest group down.
Hover over a bar to see the exact number of patients.
Patients with no ethnicity recorded are left out entirely, and so are patients recorded as not specified. The bars therefore add up to less than your whole patient list.
Only the fifteen largest groups are shown. If your patient list is more varied than that, smaller groups are not on the chart.
There is no date filter. This is a snapshot of your patient list as it stands today.
Some common variations in how the values were typed are tidied up before the chart is drawn, so a country name recorded in place of an ethnicity is grouped with the matching ethnicity rather than shown separately. Values outside that set appear as they were recorded, just with the capitalization tidied, so a group that looks like it should be merged with another usually means the two were entered differently on the patient records.

Where this data comes from
This comes from the Ethnicity field on each patient's record. Open a patient, go to Patient information, and Ethnicity sits in the Identity section, below the name fields.
Ethnicity can also be set when the patient is first created. Choosing from the list rather than typing a value keeps the groups on this chart consistent.
Opening this card
In wawa, open Insights from the sidebar, then go to Standard Reports and select Patients, then Patient core demographics. The Ethnicity distribution card is on this dashboard.
