What this card shows
The Language distribution card breaks your patient list down by preferred language and shows how many patients fall into each group, as a ring chart.
Use it to see which languages come up often enough in your patient list to be worth planning for, whether that means interpreter cover or translated paperwork.
Reading the card
Each segment is labeled with its share, and the total in the middle is the number of patients included in the chart.
Hover over a segment to see the exact number of patients.
Patients with no preferred language recorded are left out entirely, and so are patients recorded as not specified. The total in the middle is therefore lower than your whole patient count.
Only the fifteen most common languages are shown.
There is no date filter. This is a snapshot of your patient list as it stands today.
The regional variants of English are merged into a single English segment, so patients recorded as English (US) and English (UK) are counted together. Other languages appear as they were recorded, tidied for display, so at the moment a regional variant of another language would show as its own segment.

Where this data comes from
This comes from the Preferred language field on each patient's record. Open a patient, go to Patient information, and Preferred language sits in the Identity section, below the birth date field.
Preferred language can also be set when the patient is first created. Setting it on an existing patient adds them to the chart the next time the card is loaded.
Opening this card
In wawa, open Insights from the sidebar, then go to Standard Reports → Patients → Patient core demographics. The Language distribution card is on this dashboard.
