What this card shows
The Sex assigned at birth card breaks your patient list down by the sex recorded on each patient's record and shows how many patients fall into each group, as a ring chart.
The same card also appears on the Patient overview dashboard, so you can use whichever dashboard you happen to be on.
Reading the card
Each segment is labeled with its share of the patient list, and the total in the middle is your full patient count.
Hover over a segment to see the exact number of patients.
Patients with no sex recorded are grouped into a Not specified segment rather than being left out, so the segments always add up to your whole patient list.
There is no date filter. This is a snapshot of your patient list as it stands today.
A large Not specified segment points to the field being left blank at the point the records were created, and the Patient core demographics dashboard carries several other cards that show how completely each demographic field is filled in.
Where this data comes from
This comes from the Sex field on each patient's record. Open a patient, go to Patient information, and Sex sits in the Identity section, alongside the name and date of birth fields.
Sex can also be set when the patient is first created. It is not a required field, so a record saved without it will count toward the Not specified segment until the field is filled in. There is a separate Gender Identity field for recording a gender identity that differs from the sex on the record, and this card is based on the Sex field only.
Opening this card
In wawa, open Insights from the sidebar, then go to Standard Reports and select Patients, then either Patient core demographics or Patient overview. The Sex assigned at birth card is on both dashboards.
