What this card shows
The Booked room hours ahead card shows how many hours of appointments are already booked into your clinic's rooms in the periods still to come. It is your forward view of room capacity: where the diary is filling up and where there is still space.
Booked hours are worked out from each appointment's start and end times: a 90-minute appointment adds 1.5 hours to its room. By default the card shows one bar per month as a single combined total across all rooms.
Its companion card, Booked hours per room, is the same view pointed backward at the periods already past.
Reading the card
The card defaults to the current month plus the next 3 months. Bookings thin out quickly the further ahead you look, because most appointments are made a few weeks in advance, so the nearest periods are the meaningful ones. Widen the window if your clinic books further out.
Read this card as a floor, not a forecast. It shows what is booked so far, and the periods ahead will keep filling.
Set Room breakdown to Per room to see which individual rooms are filling up, and use the Room filter to compare a few rooms directly.
Hover over any bar or section to see the exact hours booked.
The card lives on the Operations Dashboard and responds to the filters at the top of it:
Group by: switch between Month and Week. Week is the more useful setting here, since it matches the horizon most bookings are made over.
Date range (future): change how far ahead you look. This is separate from Date range (past), which drives the backward-looking cards.
Clinic: focus on one or more locations, if your organization has several.
Room: narrow to particular rooms.
Room breakdown: switch between a single combined total and a split per room.
Only appointments that have a room assigned appear on this card.
Where this data comes from
Rooms are assigned when an appointment is booked. On the booking form, alongside the time and other details, whoever books the appointment can choose which room it will take place in. That choice is what this card counts.
Because this card looks forward, it is only as complete as your forward booking. Appointments that have been agreed with a patient but not yet entered, or entered without a room, will not appear here.
Opening this card
In wawa, open Insights from the sidebar, then go to Standard Reports → Clinic operations → Operations Dashboard. The Booked room hours ahead card is on the dashboard.
