What this card shows
The Appointments by Month card shows how many appointments were scheduled at your clinic in each calendar month, as a line over time. Use it to see how busy your clinic is, spot seasonal patterns, and follow how appointment volumes develop month to month.
Each appointment counts toward the month it is scheduled to take place, not the month it was booked. Cancelled appointments are not counted.
Reading the card
By default, the card shows the previous 12 months plus the current month. The current month is still in progress, so its count will keep growing until the month ends.
Hover over any point on the line to see the exact number of appointments for that month.
The card lives on the Appointments Overview dashboard and responds to the filters at the top of it:
Date: change the time window.
Clinic: focus on one or more locations, if your organization has several.
Staff member: only appointments with a specific staff member assigned.
Team: only appointments assigned to a specific team.
Room: only appointments booked into a specific room.
A note on the staff member, team, and room filters: they can only match appointments where that detail was recorded when booking. If your clinic doesn't routinely assign rooms to appointments, for example, applying the Room filter will show only the small number of appointments that have one.
Where this data comes from
The card counts appointments booked through the Calendar in wawa. Whenever someone at your clinic books an appointment, by clicking a time slot on the calendar and completing the booking form, that appointment is included in the month of its scheduled date.
The details entered on the booking form are what the dashboard filters use later: the clinic, the staff members or team assigned, and the room. The more consistently these are filled in when booking, the more useful the filters become.
If an appointment is cancelled, it is removed from the card automatically. Rescheduling an appointment moves it to the month of its new date.
Opening this card
In wawa, open Insights from the sidebar, then go to Standard Reports → Appointments → Appointments Overview. The Appointments by Month card is at the top of the dashboard.
