1. Donors in the wawa platform
The wawa platform allows you to add and link donors and their donated genetic material to treatment cycles.
2. Creating a Donor
You can create a donor from the patient overview page, by using the “Add new donor” button to the side of the “Add new patient” button.
This will create the donor as a patient who you can view on the patient overview tab
The donor’s name will not appear on the overview tab/their profile. Instead their patient ID will.
To see the donor’s name, visit their profile → “Patient Information” tab
When creating the donor profile, you can edit the donor status to add a prefix to the patient ID number for easy location based on the donor type
Donor profiles function the same as non-donor patient profiles, other than the name display
3. Cryostorage of Donor Genetic Material
Creating Donor Samples
To manually convert materials to be indicated as donated, visit the patient’s page and navigate to their samples under the Diagnositics or Embryology tabs. You can indicate the donation status under “Fate” or “Cryo purpose.”
Viewing Donor Materials
In the clinic Cryostorage tab, you can view all donor genetic material in storage with your clinic.
Navigate to the Cryostorage tab from the left-hand menu. From the “Samples” section you will be able to filter the view based on donor samples. Click the “Donor” toggle on the Cryostorage Samples page and select the type(s) of samples you would like to be displayed.
4. Connecting Donor Samples to Treatment Cycles
To connect donor samples to a patient’s treatment cycle, visit the Patient’s page → Cycle page → Gametes.
From here, use the “+ Add Donor” button to connect Oocyte and Sperm donors. There are two separate selection options for Known versus Unknown Donors.
Once donors are connected, you can add Follicle Aspirations and link Semen Samples directly from the gamete page (Note – adding a Follicle Aspiration from this page will show the name of the donor). You can also click “Thaw oocytes” and “Thaw sample” to be linked to the cryostorage page of the sample.
Note: to connect a donor aspiration, semen sample, or gamete freeze, you must create these procedure types from the recipient patient's cycle page.
