What this card shows
The Biopsy results card lists one row for every embryo you have biopsied for preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), together with the result the genetics laboratory returned for it.
It is the source data behind the charts above it. Every figure on the PGT outcomes tab is counted from these rows, so you can check any number on the tab against them, or export them and rework the figures in a spreadsheet.
One row is one embryo, not one biopsy request. A single request covers every embryo biopsied from a cycle, so a request for eleven embryos appears here as eleven rows sharing a request date, a patient and a request ID. That is why the same patient repeats down the table.
Each row carries:
Biopsy request date, Patient and Patient registration number.
Embryologist (biopsy) and Clinic (patient's cycle location).
Test types and Destination lab, which describe the request the embryo was part of.
Chromosomal status, the result returned for that embryo.
Counts as combined mosaic and Counts as no result, two true or false columns that show exactly which rows feed the two rate charts on this tab.
Carrier status, Development stage and Suitable for transfer.
Migrated from a previous system, and the Embryo ID, Cycle ID and Biopsy request ID you can trace a row back by.
Reading the card
Chromosomal status is one of nine recorded results: Euploid, meaning the expected number of chromosomes; Aneuploid, meaning an abnormal number; Mosaic, High level mosaic and Low level mosaic, meaning a mixture of normal and abnormal cells in the same embryo, graded three ways; Segmental aneuploidy; Complex aneuploidy; Polyploid; and No result, where the test was attempted but produced nothing usable.
An embryo that has been biopsied but has no result entered yet shows as Awaiting result. It is not missing from the table, and it still counts towards the number of embryos biopsied that month.
Counts as no result is true only for an explicit No result. Counts as combined mosaic is true for all three mosaic gradings together. Filtering the table on those two columns gives you exactly the numerator of each rate chart.
Rows from Biopsy requests migrated from a previous system carry no embryologist and show as Not recorded. They are still counted.
The table scrolls sideways for the columns past the first few, and the row count sits at the bottom right. Use the download option on the card to take the whole set into a spreadsheet.
The card sits on the PGT KPIs dashboard, on the PGT outcomes tab, and responds to the filters at the top:
Biopsy date: the time window. It scopes by the date the biopsy request was raised, and starts on the past 6 months plus the current month.
Embryologist (biopsy): narrow to one practitioner's work. Picking a name also drops the migrated rows, which have no embryologist against them.
Destination lab: the genetics laboratory the request was sent to for analysis. Laboratories do not all apply the same result definitions, so pick one to compare like with like; requests migrated from a previous system mostly carry no laboratory and drop out when you do.
Test types: keep only embryos whose request was sent for a particular test.
Clinic (patient's cycle location): focus on one or more of your locations.
Two things worth knowing about how the rows are dated and attributed:
Everything here is dated by the date the biopsy request was raised, never the date a result came back. wawa does not record when a result arrived, so a month always means the month the work was sent.
Clinic (patient's cycle location) is the clinic the patient's cycle belongs to, not the laboratory that carried out the biopsy. wawa records the laboratory a request was sent to for analysis, which is the Destination lab filter, but not which laboratory performed the biopsy itself.
Where this data comes from
Biopsies are raised from the Culture tab of the patient's Cycle page: select the embryos you are sending, then choose Biopsy. That creates one request covering all of them.
The request details and the results are then held on the biopsy record itself. The request date, the destination laboratory, the embryologist and the tests ordered sit at the top, and each embryo on the request gets its own row underneath for the chromosomal status, carrier status and transfer suitability the laboratory reports back.
Entering the chromosomal status as each result arrives is what moves an embryo out of Awaiting result and into the counts on the charts above this table.
Opening this card
In wawa, open Insights from the sidebar, then go to Standard Reports → Laboratory Performance - Biopsies/PGT → PGT KPIs. Select the PGT outcomes tab. The Biopsy results table runs across the bottom of it.
