What this card shows
The Ploidy mix by month card counts how many embryos came back in each chromosomal result category, month by month. Ploidy is the number of chromosome sets an embryo carries, and it is what preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) for aneuploidy reports on.
There is one line per result category:
Euploid: the expected number of chromosomes.
Aneuploid: an abnormal number of chromosomes.
Mosaic, High level mosaic and Low level mosaic: a mixture of chromosomally normal and abnormal cells in the same embryo, reported at three levels.
Segmental aneuploidy: a missing or extra piece of a chromosome rather than a whole one.
Complex aneuploidy: abnormalities affecting several chromosomes.
Polyploid: a whole extra set of chromosomes.
No result: the test was attempted but produced nothing usable.
Awaiting result: the embryo has been biopsied, but no result has been entered against it yet.
Reading the card
These are counts of embryos, not shares. Ten categories on one axis means the lines sit close together at the bottom in most months, so hover a point to read the exact figure for that category.
The three mosaic gradings are deliberately kept apart here, so you can see how your laboratory's reports are distributed across them. The Combined mosaic rate by month card lower down the tab is the one that puts all three together as a single rate.
Awaiting result is a useful line to watch. It climbs in the most recent months, because those results have not come back yet, and it falls as they are entered. A month with a tall Awaiting result line is not finished, and the other lines in it will keep moving.
No result is a real outcome, not a gap. It means the laboratory tried and could not produce an answer.
Hover any point to see the exact count for every category in that month.
The card sits on the PGT KPIs dashboard, on the PGT outcomes tab, and responds to the filters at the top:
Biopsy date: the time window. It scopes by the date the biopsy request was raised, and starts on the past 6 months plus the current month.
Embryologist (biopsy): pick one practitioner to see only their work. This chart answers one practitioner at a time; the Embryologist summary table lower down the tab is the card for comparing several at once.
Destination lab: the genetics laboratory the request was sent to for analysis. Laboratories do not all apply the same result definitions, so pick one to compare like with like; requests migrated from a previous system mostly carry no laboratory and drop out when you do.
Test types: keep only embryos whose request was sent for a particular test.
Clinic (patient's cycle location): focus on one or more of your locations.
Two things worth knowing about how the months and the clinic are decided:
Each embryo falls in the month its biopsy request was raised, not the month its result arrived. wawa does not record the date a result came back.
Clinic (patient's cycle location) is the clinic the patient's cycle belongs to, not the laboratory that carried out the biopsy. wawa records the laboratory a request was sent to for analysis, which is the Destination lab filter, but not which laboratory performed the biopsy itself.
Biopsy requests migrated from a previous system carry no embryologist, so they are counted here but disappear as soon as you pick a name in the Embryologist (biopsy) filter.
Where this data comes from
Every line on this chart is counted from the Chromosomal status recorded against each embryo on its biopsy record. Biopsies are raised from the Culture tab of the patient's Cycle page by selecting the embryos and choosing Biopsy; the results are then entered against that request as the genetics laboratory reports them.
An embryo with no chromosomal status yet counts on the Awaiting result line, and moves onto its result line the moment the status is filled in.
Opening this card
In wawa, open Insights from the sidebar, then go to Standard Reports → Laboratory Performance - Biopsies/PGT → PGT KPIs. Select the PGT outcomes tab. The Ploidy mix by month card is the top left of the four charts at the top of the tab.
