What this card shows
The Biopsy requests by month card counts how many biopsy requests you sent to a genetics laboratory each month, whatever they were tested for.
It is the headline volume figure for preimplantation genetic testing (PGT). The breakdown by test is the Test types requested by month chart directly below it.
Reading the card
A request is not a biopsy, and it is not an embryo. One request covers every embryo biopsied from a cycle, so this number is much smaller than the embryo counts on the PGT outcomes tab. A month showing twelve requests here might be a hundred and thirty embryos there. Neither figure is wrong; they are counting different things, and each card says which.
Because it is a single line, this chart is the quickest read of whether testing volume is going up or down.
A request sent for several tests still counts once here. The chart below it counts each test separately, which is why its lines add up to more.

The card sits on the PGT KPIs dashboard, on the Procedure mix tab, and responds to the biopsy filters at the top:
Biopsy date: the time window. It scopes by the date the request was raised, and starts on the past 6 months plus the current month.
Embryologist (biopsy): narrow to one practitioner's requests.
Destination lab: the genetics laboratory the request was sent to for analysis. Laboratories do not all apply the same result definitions, so pick one to compare like with like; requests migrated from a previous system mostly carry no laboratory and drop out when you do.
Test types: keep only requests sent for a particular test.
Clinic (patient's cycle location): focus on one or more of your locations.
Two things worth knowing about how the months and the clinic are decided:
Each request falls in the month it was raised, not the month its results arrived. wawa does not record the date a result came back.
Clinic (patient's cycle location) is the clinic the patient's cycle belongs to, not the genetics laboratory the request was sent to.
Requests migrated from a previous system carry no embryologist. They are counted on this chart, but they disappear as soon as you pick a name in the Embryologist (biopsy) filter.
Where this data comes from
A request is raised from the Culture tab of the patient's Cycle page: select the embryos you are sending for testing and choose Biopsy. However many embryos you select, that is one request, and one point of the count on this chart.
The request then holds its own details, including the date it was raised, which is the date this chart uses.
Opening this card
In wawa, open Insights from the sidebar, then go to Standard Reports → Laboratory Performance - Biopsies/PGT → PGT KPIs. Select the Procedure mix tab. The Biopsy requests by month card is the top right of the four charts at the top of the tab.
